Today I would like to share with you a free plastic canvas pattern to make doll clothes hangers for all your 18 inch doll clothing. These are quick and easy to make.
There is a great video on YouTube showing how to make doll clothes hangers from heavy wire. I tried it but the wire was difficult to twist and I didn’t like that the end of the wire had the potential to snag clothes no matter how tightly I got it twisted. So I decided to use a different material.
I have seen Barbie doll hangers in the past made from plastic canvas. So I thought why not make one that is a little bit bigger to use in the doll clothes armoire my husband made for me.
One thickness of plastic canvas isn’t quite sturdy enough to handle some of the heavier AG doll clothes. However, by using 3 thicknesses, you can make a sturdy hanger.
Make Doll Clothes Hangers From Plastic Canvas Tutorial
- 7 count plastic canvas in the color of your choice (scraps are good for this project since you don’t need very much)
- dry erase marker
- worsted weight yarn
- yarn needle
- scissors

Cut 3 hanger pieces from plastic canvas, following the pattern. You can click here for a larger pattern image.

Use a dry erase marker to draw the pattern on the canvas to make it easier to cut. (You can wipe it off of the canvas easily after you are done cutting.)

Place the 3 pieces together and overcast the edges with yarn all the way around the hanger.

That’s all there is to it. You can make as many as you like so you will never run out of doll clothes hangers again.

If you don’t want to make doll clothes hangers, Amazon has some for reasonable prices. I especially like the wood ones.
