Halloween Spiderweb Cookies – AG Doll Food Tutorial

dollspiderwebcookies5

As much as I love crafting AG doll food from polymer clay, sometimes my daughters want a doll craft that is a little bit simpler.  So we came up with these cute spiderweb cookies made from craft foam.  I make iced spiderweb cookies every Halloween for my kids, so I thought it would be fun to craft some for their American Girl dolls too. Materials needed for this AG doll food tutorial: Tan Craft Foam  (This is a great project to use up scraps) Pen Bottle Cap or something else approx. 3/4 inch in size to trace the cookie shape Scissors White Acrylic Paint Paintbrush Fine Tip Sharpie Pen Kids – be sure to ask your parent’s permission before starting this AG doll food craft! Start by tracing circles on your craft foam, using the bottle cap. You can space these pretty close together. Don’t ask me what that piece … Continue reading

15 Minute Doll Headband Tutorial

doll headband

I make a lot of clothes for my daughters’ dolls.  If I have enough fabric left over, I like to also make matching hair accessories.  With just a small piece of fabric and 15 minutes, you can have a cute matching American Girl doll headband. First cut a piece of fabric 3″ x 10″.  I like to use a disappearing ink pen to mark the fabric to make sure it is uniform in size. Turn in 1/2 inch on the short edges and press.  Optionally baste to hold in place. Pin right sides together and stitch down long side.  Press seam open. Turn right side out.  (A large safety pin is helpful for this task.) Press with seam running down the middle of the doll headband. Cut a 4″ piece of 1/2″ elastic.  (All I had on hand was 1/4″ elastic and that works too!) Insert elastic into one end … Continue reading

coconut cupids 2012

My daughters and I were thrilled to be able to participate in this year’s Coconut Cupids Valentine Swap over at AG Playthings.  We had so much fun making the fortune cookies and Hershey’s Kisses for the swap.  Today we received our package of goodies and had a blast going through it all. We received so many goodies for our AG Kitchen.  Lots of Valentine cookies and treats! Lauren looks adorable in her new apron and headband. Here’s a closer pic. I had a blast assembling the little carton of milk printable. Isn’t the little cup of pink lemonade adorable? Loved the little box of conversation hearts!  Emily is wearing some of the doll jewelry we received. Julie and Ashley anxiously check the mailbox for Valentines. Here is Julie with all the polymer clay and eraser cookies. She is also modeling some of the pretty jewelry we received. Ashley is showing … Continue reading

Our New Dolls from the American Girl Store at the Mall of America

American Girl Store at Mall of America

While visiting my in-laws last week, we were able to take a day to visit the Mall of America. The girls and I headed off to the American Girl Store, while my husband and son went to the Lego Store. Unfortunately we were a couple of days early and missed McKenna’s debut. We quite enjoyed looking at all the historical displays, although I didn’t think to take any pictures. We ended up bringing home 3 new dolls. I was also able to sneak off later and purchase some smaller things for the girls’ Easter baskets. They are going to be so surprised! Prior to the trip Miss A had her heart set on Molly, and Miss S was going to get Marie Grace. Ultimately they went with #13 and #53 though and named them Ashley and Lauren. So Miss A’s doll collection now includes Kaya, Kit, and Ashley. Miss S … Continue reading
